Yesterday I received this message from a coachee who had only three months to find a job before his visa expired and he would be forced to leave the UK.

This was just a one-off session (as I normally work with women), but it changed the course of his life.

Similar to a lot of women I work with, he was not seeing how his energy and his actions were bringing him exactly the opposite of the very result he wanted.

It's easy to get lost in the same strategies and coping mechanisms that might have got you so far.

At some point, you have to stop getting in your own way if you want a different outcome, and employ a new strategy that will get you out of your old patterns.

It's easy to blame others when you don't get what you want from them.

But sometimes the honest truth is that you have to look closely in the mirror at what you are doing to contribute to that dynamic.
