Never confuse project based goals with process based goals

Today’s message is crucial for anyone who has ever faced rejection when applying for a promotion.

I know how crushing that disappointment can be, not least because you had probably been working super hard, strongly feeling that you deserved to move up the ladder.

I emphasise this because I have spoken to numerous women over the years who expected a promotion because they expected their work to speak for itself.

In the video below I share why this is not how it works.

I share an important distinction for you to consider ahead of appraisal season coming up: to not confuse process-based goals with project-based goals.

And crucially, why career progression is a project-based goal and why it should be treated as such.

I urge you to build your strategy for achieving your next role or project around that perspective.

My hope is that this insight increases your changes of attaining the success you wish to enjoy, and inspires you to be bolder in advocating for yourself by clearly communicating the value that you bring to your team.
