You're being appraised in every moment

Appraisal season is in full swing, and I am very proud of my clients who, some of them who are only in their first month of coaching with me, are going in fully prepared to negotiate for the things that will shape their career trajectories and financial future.
And I have to emphasise that those things they are now comfortable asking for go far beyond what they ever imagined they could have.
It doesn’t surprise me, because that is the magic of coaching. In other words, reconnecting with their personal power is changing how they show up, allowing them to take ownership of their destinies.
Now, how you show up is vital because you really are being appraised in every single moment of your 9-5, not just once a year. And if you run your own business, you know that you ‘wear’ your brand 24x7.
Many women I speak to make the mistake of thinking that the only thing they need to do is to demonstrate competence in order to get promoted: that’s the ‘good girl’ syndrome talking.
Competence should be a given, rather than your main talking point in an appraisal.
Because decisions are being made from a sense that people get from you, way before your appraisal gets scheduled.
Now let me be clear, this doesn’t mean putting on a persona so that people get a certain impression of you.
It means getting help to uncover blind spots that are getting in the way of your brilliance shining through.
Then your potential can speak for you when you aren’t in the room where your career progression is being considered.
What will you do differently, now that you have read this?
